Sowerby bridge
Interior decorating in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire.
Recently I painted a customers home in Sowerby Bridge. The town was originally a fording point over the once much-wider river calder where it is joined by the river Ryburn. Now it is a market town a few miles from Halifax.
The walls and woodwork on this home were in need of a lot of prep work, a leak in a shower had caused damp on the wall on the landing that needed to be addressed and the woodwork was full of runs after years of paint build up and poor preparation
Once I had stripped the rest of the wall paper off the walls, it was obvious they also needed preparing properly. To do this I used a dustless sander. This allows me to create perfectly smooth wall without creating clouds of harmful dust.
For the stair case I painted the spindles white to allow light to breeze through the space but kept the hand rails and newel posts in grey to introduce clean and crisp edges. As the staircase had a span of three floors this was particularly important on the middle floor as there was little natural light from the window later on in the day.
