Environment sustainability statement

ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT – October 2021

At Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating we care about the environment and how our actions can impact climate change. As painters and decorators we believe we have a duty to protect the environment and reduce our carbon footprint. To this end, we have set down below how we intend to do our bit for the environment and climate change.

At Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating we pledge to:

·       Minimise paper, ink and toners – Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating will operate on a paperless basis as much as possible, using the latest technology, printing if only absolutely necessary and on recycled paper. We will not lease or own large office printers and photocopiers and only order any professional printing as when and necessary.

·       Minimal use of diesel-fuelled vehicles and plant machinery – Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating will only use vehicles and plant machinery when absolutely necessary, without compromise to health and safety. We will not operate a vehicle fleet and only hire the minimum number of vehicles for the minimum time necessary. Where our suppliers offer delivery services we shall make good use to minimise unnecessary travel by car or van. We allocate our painters and decorators projects near their home to enable them to travel from/to and between jobs using public transport.

·       Avoid use of toxic products and materials –Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating will avoid using any toxic product or materials, including cleaning chemicals that are harmful to the environment. We will use water-based paints wherever possible. If an oil-based or solvent-based paint can only be used, we will buy and use as little as possible.

·       Practise responsible waste management – Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating will manage and dispose of waste in the most responsible manner, for example: recycle paper, plastic, wood and metals as much as possible; only use licenced waste disposal; no naked flame burning of any waste; use product refills where available; remove and dispose of harmful materials by approved contractors e.g.: asbestos; and only buy and use quantities required for the job in hand.

·       Use sustainable energy – Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating will use sustainable energy where readily available, for example: use rechargeable battery or electric-operated equipment and absolutely avoid use of gas cylinders such as butane, propane and liquid petroleum gas (LPG)

·       Evaluate environmental impact – Rob Greenwood Painting and Decorating will assess any potential impact to environment and how we may mitigate any harm. We will publish, each fiscal year, our environmental impact statement that can be downloaded from our website.
